Cristina Portalés
(Valencia, 1978)

Dr Cristina Portalés is Full Professor at the Universitat de València (Spain). She was recently a Ramón y Cajal post-doc fellow at the Institute of Robotics and Information and Communication Technology (IRTIC) at the same university. She had formerly graduated with a double degree: Engineer in Geodesy and Cartography from the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (Spain) and MSc in Surveying and Geoinformation from the Technische Universität Wien (Austria). She was a research fellow at the Institute of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (Vienna, 1999-2002), a PhD research fellow at the Mixed Reality Laboratory of the University of Nottingham (UK, 2005) and at the Interaction and Entertainment Research Centre of the Nanyang University of Singapore (2006). Her Doctoral Thesis, “Augmented Reality Multimedia Environments in the Arts Field”, received an outstanding award by the UPV. Author of +150 scientific publications. She is currently Co-Editor-In-Chief of the scientific journal Multimodal Technologies and Interaction (MTI) (indexed in Scopus & Emerging Sources Citation Index), Member of the Joint Committee of the Chair of Artificial Intelligence and Information Visualization, between the University of Valencia and the Valencia City Council, and director of the Reseach Team DINA (Data Interaction aNd Augmentation). Her research interests are focused on data visualization, computer vision, augmented reality and digital Cultural Heritage. She has a strong interdisciplinary profile and has special interest in the emerging collaborative work between ICT and SSH researchers.

La Dra. Cristina Portalés es Profesora Titular de Universidad en la Universitat de València (España). Recientemente, fue investigadora postdoctoral Ramón y Cajal en el Instituto de Robótica y Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación (IRTIC) en la misma universidad. Anteriormente, se graduó con una doble titulación: Ingeniera en Geodesia y Cartografía por la Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (España) y Máster en Topografía y Geoinformación por la Technische Universität Wien (Austria). Fue investigadora en el Instituto de Fotogrametría y Teledetección (Viena, 1999-2002), investigadora doctoral en el Laboratorio de Realidad Mixta de la Universidad de Nottingham (Reino Unido, 2005) y en el Centro de Investigación de Interacción y Entretenimiento de la Universidad Nanyang de Singapur (2006). Su tesis doctoral, «Entornos multimedia de realidad aumentada en el campo del arte», recibió un premio doctoral por la UPV. Autora de más de 150 publicaciones científicas. Actualmente es coeditora jefa de la revista científica Multimodal Technologies and Interaction (MTI) (indexada en Scopus y Emerging Sources Citation Index), miembro de la Comisión Mixta de la Cátedra de Inteligencia Artificial y Visualización de la Información, entre la Universitat de València y el Ayuntamiento de València, y directora del Equipo de Investigación DINA (Data Interaction aNd Augmentation). Sus intereses de investigación se centran en la visualización de datos, la visión artificial, la realidad aumentada y el patrimonio cultural digital. Posee un marcado perfil interdisciplinar y está especialmente interesada en la colaboración emergente entre investigadores de las TIC y las Ciencias Sociales y Humanas.
